We understand voting can be confusing and overwhelming at times, but our goal is to make it as easy and accessible as possible for everyone.
Election day is Tuesday, November 7, 2023. On election day, voters will need to vote at their assigned polling places, which will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Are You Registered to Vote?
To be eligible to register to vote in Iowa, you must be a U.S. citizen, an Iowa Resident, at least 17 years old and will be 18 years of age on or before election day, and have not been convicted of a felony. You can register to vote online by clicking here. Or you can fill out a Voter Registration Form and return it to the LIn County Election Services Office. You will need your Iowa driver’s license or nonoperator ID number in order to register. It’s important to note that you must be registered to vote by October 23, 2023, in order to participate in the November 7th election.
Early Voting
Citizens can vote early in person at the Linn County Auditor’s Office during business hours from October 18 through November 6th.
Absentee Ballots
Absentee ballots are available by request from the county auditor. The absentee ballot request form must be received by the Linn County Election Services Office office by Monday, October 22, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. You can get an absentee ballot request form here. Once a request form has been submitted, the county auditor will mail you a ballot. Completed absentee ballots MUST be received by the Linn County Elections office or placed in the ballot drop box by the close of polls on election day (8:00 p.m.) to be considered for counting.
Voting Requirements
In order to vote in this bond referendum, you must be registered to vote, at least 18 years of age, and live within the Cedar Rapids Community School District boundaries. Voters on election day will be asked to provide one of the following IDs in order to cast a vote – Iowa Voter Identification Card (needs to be signed), Iowa Driver’s License, Iowa Non-Operator ID, U.S. Military ID or Veteran ID, U.S. Passport, or Tribal ID Card/Document.
